Corporate Sponsorship

June 2007

Dear U of M Supporter:

October 2007 marks the 31st anniversary of the All Class Reunion of Black Graduates of the University of Michigan. This event began in 1976 when a group of young, dedicated Black graduates and faculty convened to present an occasion that gave Black alumni the opportunity to connect with other alumni and to give back to the University community. Through the efforts of this group, then known as the Reunion of Black Graduates (RBG), the Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Fund was formed. Today the endowment has grown to over $2 million and provides financial assistance to 40 to 60 exceptional students each year. With an expanded mission, the RBG later evolved to become the African American Alumni Council (AAAC) in 1994.

At this time, the AAAC invites your organization to contribute to our 31st Anniversary event. This year's event opens with a high powered Leadership Conference, packed with national caliber speakers, on the U of M campus in Ann Arbor. We ask that you join our "all out" effort to celebrate this milestone by helping us bring 500 Black alumni together in October 2007. More specifically, we ask that you consider doing one or all of the following:

  • Include this very worthwhile activity in your sponsorships for this year
  • Renew or increase your past commitment to the AAAC
  • Match the donation of your staff to the AAAC and this event

We have enclosed the 2007 AAAC sponsorship package. Your contribution will ensure that a 31 year tradition of scholarship, educational advocacy, and mentorship continues. Proceeds from the weekend will benefit the scholarship as well as our organization. All contributions are tax deductible.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me anytime. I can be reached at the office during business hours (734) 647-9605 or anytime on my cell (313) 559-5558 or mhen @ umich.edu. Thank you for your time and serious consideration. We look forward to partnering with you on this very worthwhile tradition.

Sincerely,

Michael L. Henry
Chief Development Officer
